[Dailydrool] Gender or Personality?

Lilie came into the house as a puppy and was "raised" by Daisy the Yorkie.
Daisy was a tough taskmaster but Lilie obeyed and all was fine. Daisy was
top dog for 4 years.
When I found Daffodil (4 months) and brought her home, Daisy immediately
recognized a fellow player and I watched as she turned over top dog duties
to Lilie with a look. Daisy "retired" as top dog and she and Daffy became
fast friends and play constantly. Lilie isn't a player, she's a chewer.
Lilie was not happy to see Daffy but there was no trouble and, after a few
years, Daffy was accepted. (Yes, it took that long for Lilie to get off her
high horse)
I have a photo of one of our cats sleeping on top of our Parrot's cage -
with the parrot. They were firm friends from the moment that the parrot
glided down to the cat and bit his tail. Every afternoon they'd nap
together in the sun on top of the cage.
I think it's far more personality than gender. With all the animals that
I've had, I've never had any trouble with any of them getting along in
general. I did a have cat who had a very good reason to dislike another cat
and used to stop as he was passing by her and slap her. Then he'd continue
on his way.
I'd go for multiples.
Katie, Lilie, Daffodil and Daisy the Yorkie (and Smokey the cat)
