To Beasley and Momma Tonya, if it's any help to know this, my Mickey also
has a hemangiosarcoma, cancer of the spleen, and the tumor was removed in
surgery. He was close to 13 years old when this happened. At the time they
removed the tumor, there was no spread of the cancer, but the vet was clear
to us that this type of cancer comes back. Mickey had 6 more months of
great quality of life. He was not sick at all during that time. He ate,
played, howled and slept like my baby always did. One day, all the symptoms
came back with his stomach becoming distended and obviously he was not
feeling well. When the vet opened him up this time, he said the cancer had
spread and we had to send him to the Bridge mercifully while he was under
anesthesia. We were heartbroken, but at least we were prepared for the
outcome. The vet was very honest with us that it would come back, but it
was a full six months of quality time with our hound we so loved, so we had
no regrets at the end. We will keep Beasley in our prayers for continued
good days ahead with you and your family.
