Hi Droolers,
Archie's docs sister, Elsa has been diagnosed with diabetes and also has a
large urinary bladder stone. Her gallbladder is more than twice its normal
size and full of "slush," whatever that means. She's now on insulin and
ursodiol to help dissolve the stone. Her blood sugar was over 600 (normal is
60-125) and mama is very upset. I know a lot of you out there have experienced a
variety of health issues and I thought maybe you could send some advice
about treatments and outcomes, along with some of that good old basset drool.
Archie doesn't know about it yet, I haven't told him. I was suspicious
though when he started licking up her sticky "pee-mails", they must be very
sweet with all the sugar they contain, more like syrup I guess. Anyway I figured
he was on to something and I had her checked out at vet place, I'm not sure
I want to know but at least she's on insulin now, we'll get the culture and
sensitivity report tomorrow (Mon.) and start her on antibiotics for her
severe bladder infection. She's off the Science Diet CD diet and on the WD
formula (less carbohydrates and more protein), will probably make the stones
worse, but it's a tradeoff since Diabetes takes precedence.
Thanks in advance for your help, you are all so dear, we appreciate hearing
all your concerns each day. Archie sends healing drool to all of you who
have sick babies and those who are grieving over recent losses.
