[Dailydrool] This & That

The Houndettes remind me regularly that I'm not as young as I used to be
and I occasionally have to agree. We have a lovely basset lady named Sydney
visiting us for a bit. Sydney has a long sad story of being a BYB's dog who
came to BaRCSE with two older pups and a new buppy that we were unable to
save. All her other puppies died before we got our hands on them and her.
I'm sure she thanks doG every day that she doesn't have to worry about that
nonsense any longer! She went to live with a lovely lady who had to give
her back to us recently due to health issues. Then, last month, she went on
a home trial with a family who has one other older basset. Well, after
three weeks, the older basset still hadn't gotten used to having another
hound in the house so Sydney has now come to me for a bit. She is a lovely,
sweet, wonderful houndette who I found out the hard way is somewhat food
aggressive. Did she choose to go after one of the hounds that would have
just backed off? NOOOOO! She chose Ginger who is also food aggressive and
will always tell another dog to bring it on. That's how we started our day
yesterday but I'm determined that we won't have a repeat performance.
Fortunately there was no actual blood shed but we had a very subdued day
here after I got done yelling and carrying on. Poor Sydney just doesn't
know what to think because now she gets leashed in the sun room and Ginger
gets leashed in the kitchen before the kibble even comes out! She has also
learned very quickly what "out of the kitchen" means. There was a time a
few years ago that we had our four hounds plus two foster hounds here all
at the same time. All I can say is I must have been younger! I don't know
how you folks with more than four or five hounds do it because these
guys are really keeping me on my toes!

Since I have five hounds here, can I use more than five words? Wonderful
family dogs, pure love, hard headed, determined, belly rubs, comedy crew,
BIG paws, too smart, counter cruisers, slave trainers, good
comforters, mans best friend. I kept it to five words per hound!

Heart healing and get well drool to all in need.
