Tim's story about the bloodhound reminded me of my own funny story. Jolie ATB and I were driving rescue Clyde to Memphis on a relay. Clyde had been used as fighting dog bait in nw AR, so he had some issues. Jolie and I rode in front and Clyde in the back. About halfway there, I see this bloodhound running down I-40, which is a very busy hwy with tons of trucks. I stop, pull over, talk to the dog. He's friendly, no collar. I tried to put him in the back with Clyde, but Clyde was having none of that! So bloodhound rode in front with Jolie and me. He wouldn't get in the car, so I had to pick him up.

I stopped at the next exit and left my number at the gas station if anyone was looking for this dog. Then I got back on the road and called our dear late friend Phil Guinn about bloodhound rescue groups. We all drove to Memphis, handed Clyde off to the next driver, and started heading back. Now bloodhound was riding in back.

Then I got a phone call from someone saying they had seen my sign at the gas station and their bloodhound had gotten out. I stopped at the same gas station and his mom was there waiting for me. Turned out "Duke" had a habit of just running free! She thanked me and told Duke to get up, and he neatly jumped in the back of their old Suburban. He looked happy as a clam! I guess he just wanted a ride to Memphis!

Love and drool to all in need!
