Thank you for the kind words and thoughts after I sent Fred to the Bridge this week. They have helped me more than you can know. I did think Ginger was unaffected but as the days have passed she has become more clinging and I noticed this morning she is not happy with me stroking the cats whereas before she exhibited little jealousy. She is also more wary of people, Fred was never a great greeter of people but wasn't as scared of them as she is. I know her background doesn't help (puppy farm breeding bitch) as she obviously had no socialisation. Mind you she doesn't seem to have the great hatred of black dogs that Fred learned from Winnie maybe that would have come with time.
