Bonejour,

Hi Rebecca,

Just read your post about Morse's fits and firstly, BIG hugs to him and drool from da gurlz.

Our La Pw Misty, ATB, was a seizure "expert". First time I saw it ... well, I'll skip the details! The vet here put her on phenobarbital and it worked quite well. We just had to check the dosage regularly and modify accordingly. She also had valium to use as rectal shots when she was fitting. Despite the horror of the fits, there was one amusing episode. Luckily, my mum was staying with us and she was vet assistant. She gave Misty the rectal valium and the top of the syringe stayed "inside" her ! Only solution was to go in there after it! She asked me for surgical gloves - of course I didn't have any. I'll let you imagine the rest... When she went home, the first thing she did was send me a BIG box of surgical gloves !!!!!

When we were in Crufts the following year there was holistic vet giving advice. He suggested potassium bromide. Easy to get from the UK vets at the time. I told my vet here (about it) and we slowly weaned Misty off the pheno and on to just the bromide. It worked for her. However, here in France they do not use potassium bromide as they reckon it is archaic, so I used to get a vet in the UK send me the powder and I'd mix it up myself. Sorry, can't remember the dosage. Misty also had a guardian angel in the US who sent us her her own flower essences (thanks Sandy Gaston). We kept Misty almost seizure free thanks to these two treatments.

On a different subject: the very first night Pw Penny arrived in our home we put her bed in the bedroom with us. She hated it! From then on she always slept in the lounge - only coming into the bedroom when SHE thought it was time for us to get up. Last night I woke up around midnight to find her snoring gently on my sheepskin rug by my bedside. She stayed there all night!

Hugs from me and lurps from da gurlz to you all,

Eleri
