Debbie,
We had a Standard Dachshund years ago that developed bleeding from his nose. He was always sticking his nose in something, so we and Doc figured he had stuck his nose in something a little too hard and injured it. A nasal exam showed nothing up there that wasn't suppose to be. A week later, it was still bleeding. Doc took his blood pressure and lo and behold - it was high! The bleeding was from elevated blood pressure which had ruptured the tiny blood vessels in his nose. Anti hypertensive drugs resolved the bleeding, and he stayed on them the rest of his life with no further problems.
