[Dailydrool] Eye issues

I have to agree with Pam about seeing an eye specialist for eye issues. My regular vet is very interested in eye issues but never hesitates to recommend a visit to the animal ophthalmologist. Pw Miss Pauline was a regular visitor to the eye vet because of her glaucoma; she never had any other eye problems and when we had to send her to the Bridge, her one eye was as clear as it could be. Elmo, on the other hand, had all kinds of eye problems. Dry eye can be a really serious problem and can lead to more issues. We fought this with Elmo -the poor boy had corneal ulcers which are terribly painful; his had to be abraded weekly to help them heal. My sweet boy was so miserable. His eye pressures were too low ( with glaucoma you have the opposite problem) and his eyesight was failing. During his last year with us, he was getting at least 6 kinds of eye drops, some twice a day and others 3 times a day. The eye vet was just as important as our regular vet to keep both Elmo and Pauline healthy.

Both Bosley and Gracie have seen the eye vet this year - Bos has a cyst on his eyeball that is thankfully not a concern and Grace has a mild problem with dry eye. Once I am mobile again, Sunny will be going just to be checked out. The eye specialist is not just for glaucoma.
