A basset with eye problems, in my opinion, should see an Ophthalmologist.  My 
soon to be 13 year old, Lucy Sue, has been seeing Dr. Bobofchak, Eye Care for 
Animals, in Akron, Ohio for almost 2 years.  After numerous trips to my regular 
vet for a very bloodshot eye and no diagnosis, the vet tech took me aside and 
recommended the specialist.  I am so glad he did.  He saved my dog's eye.  It 
turns out that Lucy Sue has a tumor under the sclera of her eye.  With meds we 
have manage to control the growth of the tumor.  Eye Care for Animals are 
located in many states so please don't hesitate to see an Ophthalmologist.  You 
could save your dog's sight.
