[Dailydrool] Barking at 4am - creatures of habit

Hi Christine,

What Marie said about dogs being creatures of habit is so true. Our
dadslave worked in a bar for the past 5 years, getting home around 4am
every night (morning?) and dispensing treats and pets, etc until he
went to bed. When he quit that job and no longer worked nights, Cowboy
still awoke every night around 4am and would come into our room to
whine for pets until he fell back asleep. It's been 6 months since the
schedule change, and while his persistence is slowly diminishing, we
still are woken up about 3 nights a week to his soft little whines. We
have to get up, cuddle him and pet him until he snoozes back to sleep.
So irritating, but also quite cute so we carry on.

And re: the daylight savings time change - for the past few weeks
we've been making fun of the boys because they want dinner at 4:30 pm,
instead of 5:30-6. We call it the early bird special. Unfortunately
they then seem to want a second mini-meal around 10pm several nights a
week, b/c they ate too early.

Best of luck retraining Rupert and William. I suggest a cookie or
milkbone to keep them quiet. Maybe give it to them at bedtime and it
will hold them over longer in the morning until you are ready to get
up and feed breakfast.

Drool to all,
Kacy with Cowboy and Rupert
