In fostering bassets I have found only two solutions to multiple bassets and keeping the post op dog quiet

One is isolation.  Crate or small room with patient And human inside and rest of pack outside

Other is DIRECT supervision in which you are TOUCHING the patient and NEVER move out of reach so you can prevent disaster
