I have a question about the snorting/reverse sneezing.? What causes a hound to snort/reverse sneeze?? Every once in a while my Thelmas Lu will wake up from sleeping and start snorting, after a few seconds it stops.? Now my Milly has been snorting off and on during? the day.? Milly's snorting episodes started about 2 weeks ago.? We do have a Vet appt next Friday but I was wondering what causes these snorts to happen.

Our vet says dogs' uvulas (that piece of skin that hangs down in the back
of the throat) is much larger than humans', and sometimes when they breathe
the wrong way, it ends up covering their throat. They then start the
reverse sneezing trying to breathe through their nose (the noise happens
because the air gets trapped in the nasal passages due to the blocked
throat.) If you pinch the nostrils shut for a few seconds, it will force
them to open their mouth and breath correctly.

Every now and then Holly will do this and it's always during her extremely
long allergy season, so I've always just assumed that hers is
allergy-related. Gracie does not have allergies, neither did Anna, and
neither one of them ever reverse sneezes. Doesn't mean I'm right, but.

I just read that the family's 18 year old son set the family dog on fire and has
admitted to doing it.? He has a criminal history.? Apparently he was on drugs at
the time, he admits doing it, and didn't give a reason.

I knew i was forgetting something!! Thank you ALL for the Drool, prayer,
love, and support. I will be closing on MY house in an hour and a half. I
was worried after the divorce that I might have to sell it, but the Caspaw
Cwew will still be able to sleep in the same beds, and I no longer have to
worry about having to split them up!!!
I feel almost guilty, at a time when I know some of us have lost all, I am
so soryy for those that have been devastated by the storms. I love you all!!
Oh, I have a new lady in my life, check this: Babe adores her!! She never
really liked the dxw being near me, but Babe really likes her. Was it that
tense around here the last several years?? ( I am not trying to insult dxw,
just stating how weird it is Babe approves)

A big, big thank you to all who have written on the Drool and privately.
As I've shared with many of you, having the Drool is such an absolute
blessing. There is so much comfort in knowing what a large community we
have of folks that just "get" these wonderful creatures.
I am so happy to report that Zoe is having more good days than bad, so
thank you and your fur babies for slinging all that drool! My girl is
eating like a champ, thanks to the Cerenia and Prilosec. She gets a little
"urpy" sometimes, and oh my Dawg is she gassy (all of the rich food she's
getting, no doubt!), but on the whole things are good.
Her current regimen is 10mg pred, 1/2 of a Prilosec, 15mg Cerenia every
day. I've started giving her Tramadol as well. I'm counting on her to let
me know when it's "time". I went home for lunch today to check on her, and
she trotted right behind me to the kitchen and yelled for her bowl. I'm
mostly feeding her chicken and rice, with some Purina One canned food mixed
in. She is probably eating 3 cups per day. And treats. She loves cheese
and Beggin' Strips.
I spoke with her vet today because I am still doubting myself and wondering
if I am doing the right thing here. The vet assured me Zoe's quality of
life is still there, and take it a day at a time. So that's what we'll
do. I still torture myself daily over thinking Buckley went to the bridge
way too soon, and it's awful.
Thank all of you again ... can't tell you what your caring and support mean.
