[Dailydrool] mouses

Vernon Q Basset would like everyone in the Whole Wide World to know there
are better ways to deal with Mousies than to use traps.

(Vernon stops here and looks modestly left and right and down his nose.)

He, himself, in all his 13-year-old bassetness, caught his (probably) Very
First Mousie this summer.

(Clio and Tiger, the cats, roll their eyes at this point in the story)

He caught it in the kitchen -- a clean snap of the choppers, and there it
was -- in his mouth -- hale and healthy. I missed the ending, hearing only
the shouting -- "Oh, well done Vern! Here, take it outside boy, quick
quick.."

"Oh Vern."

Vern says you wouldn't keep one in your mouth either if it was running
around on your tongue. The mouse emerged healthy as ever to go off and tell
"Jonah in the belly of the whale" stories to all its friends.
