First and foremost, drool to all in need-too many of our hounds leaving for the Bridge, we are so sorry, this sure has been a ruff patch here. We hope for better days for all-

It has been a rocky weekend here, yesterday was tuff, just one of those days I guess. My new ride is in the drive, it is a 2007 Toyota 4Runner, it has some scratches and has probably hit some holes along its life, but I compare it to myself, a bit old, but still got some go under the hood. Bigger than the Element, but if we ever have to evacuate from her, there is room for all the hounds and "stuff". Main thing was that was affordable to us, good mechanical shape and I think will be a good fit-(until I gas it up--she appears to be a "drinker").

Brudder Elwood is not feeling well tonight-he ate his dinner last night and I took them walking, well Elwood decides to do the double up in this mans lawn-he is out there watching no less, and of course Elwood has the trots--ever wiped grass blades with a poop bag??? So thinking this was nothing,I gave him a imodium and he seemed okay. More of the samer this morning, and he clearly looks a bit down in the choppers tonight. I have some meds on board and if he is no better he will have to make a trip to see Doc. Right now it seems it never ends--no drool needed, I will let you all know--I think right now I am a bit :gun shy" shall we say.

Bessie-the younger-had quite a break thru today, I had her out walking and here came the neighbor--now, for 10 months solid, with no exceptions-Bess has cowered, went to ground and tried to run, but today she walked right up to the lady for a sniff and she allowed her to pet her. WOW. A total first. Perhaps she is turning the corner of being secure, but I also wonder if she has decided she will be the new Alpha here, and this is a requirement. Time will tell!!
Brudder Jake on the other paw, is now into everything. My biggest issue is that he has discovered the stove. I put some bacon in a pan and turned around to wash my hands and there he was, snooter in the pan-I had not turned on the stove yet, thankfully--a strip of bacon in the choppers. When you are his size, getting up to the stove is a breeze, but I now have to watch every move he makes. He is like having a 2 year old child in the house. Dare I say the blood pressure meds have him feeling good. But the stove????????

And as far as dogs slipping collars--well mine wear lightweight collars with tags--see Wen at Bessies Boutique-they are lightweight, pretty and to me look comfy, BUT I always use a slip leash on all my hounds-There is no backing out of them. All my slip leashes have a tab that pushes down to make them secure on the neck. I thank Sandi Wittenburg for this, she showed Elwood the proper way to walk on a leash one year, and he never forgot, all the Beach Gang use this and I never worry about a escapee. It gives me control and they know it.

So a new week--lets make this one much better than last--
