Hi it's Dale and yup, you heard me right, we had sweetness in our house.
Last night when the giants won the world series my husband was shouting and
clapping as were all the neighbors and fireworks were going off. Now, my dogs
don't care much about that sort of thing. But Gracie is on Tramadol because of
her extracted canine and I think that is what did it because she got SO scared
she was just shaking all over and couldn't stop and was hiding in our bedroom.
So, I went back to see if I could comfort her and Snoopy and LuLu came with me.
They all 3 got on the bed and Snoopy just kind of lay down on the pillow and
made a C out of himself and Gracie just laid her head on his side just in front
of his hip and LuLu lay with her head on Snoopy's butt and spooned Gracie from
behind. None of the usual semi-snark which they do when they all get on the bed
(more over, I want the pillow, yada yada before they settle down and snuggle in)
they didn't do any of that. Snoopy and LuLu just held her while she trembled
and panted and drooled (that drool was for you guys on the east coast) and Greg
and I patted her and told her it was ok.
Those basset were just so sweet to poor Gracie and I wanted to share. They got
her mostly calmed down but she was trembling a little bit until she fell asleep
a couple of hours later. This morning Gracie was fine. I'm not planning on
giving her anymore tramadol, I think it should be fine, it's been 3 days. I
gave her Rimadyl instead this AM. Hopefully that'll take the edge off.
--Dale with Snoopy, LuLu and Gracie who are all hoping and praying that Sandy
isn't as big nor as slow as they say. Stay safe droolers.
