My monsters....errr Houndettes....noses seem to be working just fine ALL
the time. I enjoy hand work and have been quilting for years but I recently
decided to learn how to knit. I have finally graduated in my knitting
education and have moved on to a more complex yarn than just wool and
recently bought some (very expensive) mink yarn for a very lacy, beautiful
project. Well, you guessed it. The three younger monsters (Jersey is
too dignified for that kind of foolishness) were hooting and hollering
downstairs one day and had gotten this beautiful mink yarn and my beautiful
lacy mink scarf that I was in the process of knitting down off my cutting
table and were all set to play tug of war with it! I lucked out because the
scarf wasn't damaged and they had only drooled on the yarn and had broken
it in a couple of spots so I was able to salvage most of it but I have been
wondering if somehow they can smell that the yarn came from an animal. You
would think that, with all the processing and everything the fur goes
through, that there wouldn't be anything left of the scent but these guys
are fascinated with this yarn and with wool yarn. I have heard the horror
stories that can happen when dogs swallow string and thread so I really
do put this stuff up where I think they can't reach it but I swear that
Ginger is six feet tall when she's on her hind legs and her tongue is six
feet long! They have shown absolutely no interest in the couple of acrylic
pieces that I've done but are intensely interested in the wool and now this
mink yarn (no minks were harmed in the making of the yarn. I checked before
I bought it!). Nobody in this house is having any trouble at all with their
scent factories! If anything, their noses are in overdrive all of the time!

Heart healing and get well drool is being slung to all in need.
