I have always been amazed at the things bassets find stinky enough to roll in.
After a PALS visit to a nursing home Dazey found the most god awful thing to sneakily roll in and thus a bath. She favored cowpies and was covered in this greenslime and wondered why noone petted her.  Vinegar was a good deodorizer
If it smells they'll find it. Apparently bears do it to hide their scent - why bassets do it heaven knows. The old Airedale would never think of it
