[Dailydrool] Today's calendar girl

I smiled when I turned to today's calendar page because it is my Clara, 
my first basset ever.

When I first moved to Oregon in 1994, I lived with friends who had just 
bought a basset puppy from a backyard breeder. Clara and I hit it off 
from the start and when I moved out a year and a half later, they let me 
take her to my new home. I cried when they told me.

once I had her home, I decided she needed a brother and I adopted Louie. 
With those two, my first and second basset, I started down a road I'd 
never imagined. Clara taught me a lot, but always gently.And she took 
really good care of Louie, too.

She went to the bridge in May 2008. She's probably still taking care of 
Louie.
