I have a couple of suggestions - one fairly inexpensive. Pelletized lime is
good for your lawn and will neutralize the odor of almost anything. It is
available at garden and home centers. I would broadcast a layer of it over
the area before you cover it with mulch, or broadcast it just before a rain
(or you could water it in). You don't really want your dogs to get it in
their paws or in their eyes/nose - it's too much of an irritant. The bag of
lime will say how much to use. Be sure to get pelletized lime, not
pulverized lime, which is a powder and is more likely to get into noses and
eyes. My second suggestion is more expensive, but it is quicker. Some of
the bacterial enzyme products on the market can be used on plants (and even
your dogs) without harming them. The one I used on my yard is (this really
is the name, no kidding) Anti-Icky-Poo by Mister Max. They also sell a
product called PBGone. You can find them online and may find a retailer
near you. I also have read about, but not tried, a product called SCOE 10X,
only available online, that is probably quite good. These are liquid
concentrates that need to be diluted and sprayed on, and are really
lifesavers if you have an urgent need for immediate odor removal (like
you're having a party or putting your house on the market). Good luck!
