[Dailydrool] Update on the Delgado/Buddy the Basset hound murder case

I noticed an article on the Web today. sentencing in the case is set for February 13. the defendant pleaded no contest to one count of animal cruelty and one count of arson. the prosecutor is asking for the maximum three years in prison. the defense attorney is asking for probation and drug treatment. the judge has suggested he will likely not consider more than 16 months of incarceration, possibly some combination of probation and up to a year incarceration. The defendant has previous convictions for theft/receiving stolen property, graffiti vandalism, and drug possession. sentencing on the drug possession charge had been deferred while the defendant underwent drug treatment. the defendant admitted being high on drugs when he killed Buddy. How any of these factors will influence sentencing is uncertain.
