[Dailydrool] Baths

Bugsey here. I am going to chime in on the bath issue because...well...it
is a really sore point with the mom. She gets her feelings hurt and me? I
just LOVE to be bathed! We really don't care if other people never wash
their dogs. My brother Wendell has had one bath in his life. He will be 3
in April. He has NO idea what he is missing out on. We get baths every
1-3 weeks depending on the time of year. See, mom is very allergic to lots
of things, including us. Beauford and I have lots of allergies. Browyn is
just disgusting. She rolls in poop...a lot. She doesn't think that being
a Fairy Princess and rolling in poop are contraindications. Whatever. I
know better than to argue with Browyn. It is more productive to bang your
head against the wall. Anyway, during grass season, we get baths every
week. In the dead of winter with 7 inches of snow on the ground it is more
like 3 weeks.

The thing you have to keep in mind is that Snoopy, Lulu and Gracie and
Maggie and Evil Annie and my crew's moms all use very good shampoo to help
us with our skin issues. My mom keeps about 5 shampoos on hand. They all
handle different issues that might crop up. She has stuff for when
Beauford gets the yeasty beasties. She has stuff if we have dandruff. She
has stuff to get the stains out of my feet when I have been digging in the
mulch and stained my little white feet. She has stuff to clean a head that
has been in really nasty stuff. It is tear free. Then she has the basic
shampoo which is Tropiclean Papaya 2 in 1 shampoo and conditioner. It
makes us soft and silky smooth (sorry Bev) and we smell really great. It
keeps our skin nice and moisturized and in good shape.

The baths knock all the pollen off of us and gets all the dander off of us.
This is a win win at our house. The day we get our baths, we get our
nails trimmed and we get liver treats for it. So, it isn't too bad. Then
we all troop upstairs and go to the bathroom. Mom expresses our anal
glands and we get more liver treats. Then mom gives Beauford and Browyn
bacon nylabones to chew while I get my bath. Then I get to root in the
towels while they get their baths. We get our ears cleaned on Monday. If
they were gross on Monday, we get them cleaned on Thursday as well. We get
our teeth brushed every day after we eat breakfast.

Mom cleans all the bedding every week. I want to know who these wimpy
bassets are that leave covers on with just a little bit of elastic? We
would have those off in no time. Mom even washes our stuffed animals and
rotates the selection. It is like Christmas! I get lots of stuffed
animals in my crate. The other two don't. Beauford kills them and Browyn
pees on them and sometimes she will poop on them. Not me. I just love
them and play with them. I get 9 in my crate with my pillow, crate pad and
blankie. When mom is done, there is almost room for me!

In case you are wondering, it only takes mom about an hour to clip nails,
express anal glands and soap us up twice each and towel dry us. She
doesn't think that is bad. We are fortunate to have a great shower for
doing this. I love my bath! The only problem is I have offered to go for
Beauford and Browyn and apparently that isn't allowed. Bummer. Hope
everyone has a great day and we are slinging drool for all in need!
