Hi. Well, we put our basset Millie on Prozac a couple of years ago. She was a puppy mill girl, and she has a nervous habit where she will chew her left hip completely raw. The Prozac controls that well, with no side effects that we've noticed.

Is there any particular reason you don't want him on Prozac?

He was drinking excessively and of course as a result urinating excessively. After a battery of tests and a couple of visits to a specialist at Medvet in Columbus he has been diagnosed with Psychogenic Polyuria/Polydipsia, meaning that this behavior is all in his head. We are trying to limit his water intake to a prescribed amount in the hope that he will eventually unlearn the behavior. They told us that should his behavior get so bad it is “driving us crazy” , which it has in the past, we should consider putting him on a maintenance dose of Prozac. I do not like the thought of one of our dogs being on Prozac so if anyone has any extra drool please send some our way to help Kuder get over his behavioral issue and start to focus on more normal basset things like napping, treats, napping, bellyrubs and napping. Thanks again to everyone for all of your suggestions and encouragement.
