Other people's bassets DO NOT:

Take themselves shopping at the local store after breaking their leash
Get up on the dining table
Open kitchen cupboards to eat whatever's there
Open the fridge to eat the contents
Leave the freezer open after not being able to open the drawers and eat those too
Climb on to the windowsill behind the sofa, then get wedged between the two
Walk over the piano keyboard
Drink from the fish pond
Walk on the fish pond when it is frozen
Hold socks hostage in exchange for treats
Climb over the dog guard in the car and curl up on the driver's lap
Steal the Christmas turkey
Chew up their uncle's "indestructible" phone
Unzip their niece's suitcase to steal Easter eggs
Steal workmen's lunch . . . and their tools
Raid visitors' pockets and handbags.........
