Well some good news and bad news:

Good news first:
Cooper is still with us. Dad has not given up yet. Apparently there is
another medication the vet says we can try ( I'm not sure what it is yet,
he starts tomorrow so may find out then but I will let you know when I
know). Also, Dad brought Cooper home from the vetspital! YAY! sprung from
the dungeon/cage/boring place. He is back with his family where he is
soaking up the love. I guess the problem is not paralysis it is weakness in
all four of his legs. The vet told us that it is not in his spine but is
autoimmune so Cooper would not be a candidate for surgery the vets say.
Also vet said he did not think this was lymes disease as that causes joint
swelling and pain and Cooper still seems happy, eats his dog food/drinks,
etc, and not in pain. Cooper does move around some he just has to take lots
of breaks while in the moving process.

Bad news: Brother has to keep on top of carrying Cooper outside for the
restroom, no shirking. My brother is very attached to the couch so this
responsibility is a strain for him. My brother is cognitively challenged
and while he loves Cooper dearly he doesn't really comprehend that our
folks are getting older and unable to carry Cooper themselves (dad has bad
back/shoulder and mom is on her 4th time with cancer) and I have lymes
disease which has bad days and good days but has caused me to be very weak
and unable to walk (I use a wheelchair) and so I can't carry Cooper either,
I think he thinks that if he doesn't WANT to do it he shouldn't HAVE to do
it and good luck convincing him otherwise (it is possible but a challenge).

So please keep sending drool we very much appreciate it. Also info on
autoimmune thingys in basset hounds that could cause this and treatments
would be appreciated, we have appreciated everything people have suggested
so far.

Thanks again,
Camee with Cooper (humans exist to wait on me), Miss Elly Mae (why does he
get all the attention?) and Gigi, the guinea pig (staying in my own little
world).
