[Dailydrool] Abe going down in the rear

Sounds like what my Holly the Dolly has going on with her back.  What did
Abe's x-rays show?  Holly has a couple of vertebrae right in the middle of
her back that are calcifying, making that her weak spot, so when she twists
funny or lands on a foot funny, she tweaks that area and has a humped up
back, pain, and extremely weak, floppy back legs.  The first couple of times
it happened, her back legs got pretty much back to normal.  This last time,
she's partially better, but the legs are still weak, especially her right
leg, and when she gets tired (evenings) she sometimes needs help.  Holly is
14.  Vet said it is not disk problems, but there is nothing that can really
be done for it.  She has pain meds and muscle relaxers when needed.  When
she has an episode, I don't let her do any walking (other than in the
backyard) for at least a week, depends on how quickly she improves, and then
we start walking very short distances.  Short as in one or two houses up the
street, turn around and come back, put Holly in the house and then continue
walking the other dog or dogs.  We add another house or two when she is
able, and very slowly do more.  She can walk around the block now, which is
a normal walk for us, but it took almost 3 months (and cooler weather here
in Texas) for her to be able to do this.
