[Dailydrool] Abe going down in the rear

So I have had Abe to the vet 3 times in the past month and a half for back issues. His back gets all arched up and he whines in pain and has trouble jumping on the furniture and such. One night he was crying so much I took him to the emergency vet at 1 a.m. and they gave him a shot that knocked him out and he seemed better in the morning. Basically the vet said it wasn't neurological, did the foot flip thing, sent us home with tramadol and previcox and crate rest. This week something was different, he didn't seem to be in any pain but is very wobbly on his rear legs, they just kind of sway, especially the left one. When I do the foot flip he sits down because he can't support himself. I am worried because whatever it is that is wrong with him has changed. I hate having him on crate rest because I don't normally crate him and I feel like he thinks I'm punishing him. I have left him at the vet today while I am at work and asked for a referral to a
neurologist. My other concern is Buster my other dog who is the same age but extremely active and healthy. I need to exercise him and don't want Abe to feel neglected because his exercise is restricted. Any thoughts or ideas or similar experiences?
