Sorry I did not reply sooner about Party Time's congestive heart failure,
unfortunately Dachshunds are very prone to this and I had Doxies for many
years and lost several to the problem. If you can afford it and there are
some in your area, get her to a Veterinary Cardiologist as quickly as
possible. Cardiologists often prescribe meds that your regular Vet will
not, and these meds can slow the progress of the disease some.

If a Cardiologist is not in the cards, then I would immediately put her on
Coenzyme-Q-10 twice a day, along with the blood pressure meds and possibly
diuretics your Vet will prescribe. If Party has much of a problem, she
probably is sleeping a lot and lying around and doesn't want to do what she
used to. Co-Q-10 helps the heart muscle beat stronger and use energy more
efficiently, so she will feel better and be more energetic. When I started
using this on my little Abby, my first Doxie with Congestive Heart failure,
the difference was unbelievable. If I forgot to give it to her, boom, she
would be lethargic within a few hours of her missed dose. Get her back on
it and she would perk right up. This was many years ago, and Co-Q-10 was
not nearly as well known as it is now. I asked my Vet before giving it to
Abby, and the Vet said to go ahead and try it, it would not harm her. It's
amazing stuff, and today most people Cardiologists tell all their patients
to take it.

One more thing, try not to let her get too tired or do too much, even if the
Co-Q-10 perks her up a lot. With a heart problem, moderation is the key.
Hope this helps.
