Slave Lea, have you put the BPET in a bottle with a narrow neck, like a 
ketchup bottle of the sort you find in hot-dog-type restaurants? This is 
the easiest way to apply the treatment. You do a swift turnover of the 
bottle into the ear, squish briefly, and let the dog shake it's head 
while you step back. Clean up floor (do this only on hard surfaces or 
outdoors). Hands should be clean.

At least that's what worked for Horton, who had quite goopy ears when we 
started. Within a week he was doing just fine. But as far as I know, 
there was no gunk involved in his case. More serious infections will 
take longer to treat. And let's hope the Cipro really does work. I agree 
that if you have no results after one round of the antibiotics, it's 
time to retest to find out what should work.
