[Dailydrool] Yay for Friday

I see the posts about nothing to read on the drool so I figure I should
write too. I kind of go in spurts and summer is one of the easiest times to
fall off from writing, although I always read - even if it means catching
up on weeks of digests at a time.

We took an 8-day camping vacation in the Trinity alps last month, which is
our main "annual vacation". We camp with a ton of friends, and raft (mostly
drink beer and float) down the Trinity River each day. This year James
surprised me, proposing after nearly 11 years of dating, and had a surprise
engagement party planned at a riverside property where both of our families
were waiting to celebrate. It was really fun, and the only ones missing
were the bassets.

To his credit, James planned all along to have them brought in, but with
temps in the high 90's and the stress of a 5-hour drive each way with a
grandpawrent, he decided it'd be too much for the boys and opted to leave
them home with a sitter. They survived the week without us but definitely
let us know we were in the doghouse upon our return.

Now they've been chewing and licking themselves like crazy, and despite a
bath, cutting out the new treats we'd bought, some benedryl and vet visits
for their butt glands, they refuse to let up. Rupert is consistently going
after his butt, while Cowboy changes from butt to foot to belly depending
on hound knows what.

That's about it for us lately. Cowboy turns 8 on Sunday so we will
celebrate with a small hike or outing depending on the temps and some type
of tasty treat that hopefully will not result in more bodily chewing.

Drool to all,
Kacy with Cowboy and Rupert
