I have had good luck in the past treating hot spots with plain Listerine (  
the original yellow kind) and alternating it with Colloidal Silver (from 
the  health food store).  Just dab it on full strength with a cotton ball, and 
 let it dry.  Do this several times a day.
 
Also, one of the things that I have discovered over many years in Bassets  
is that they should never eat anything with soy in any form.  Soy is not a  
protein that canines can readily digest, and it can cause all kinds of skin  
problems.
