Hi it's Dale,

I have the flu.  My husband has the flu.  My teenager has the flu.  So we're really all that quick on the draw around here but last night we got a real scare.  Around 8:45 I noticed Gracie acting odd.  So, I gave her 2 gasX while I checked her out.  Temp, normal.  Breathing and heart rate ... FAST.  Trembling.  Came on all of a sudden.  Trying to hide outside in the far corner of the yard.  I brought her in 4 times, finally closed the dog door.  I listened to her gut, heard lots of noises.  She took a cookie.  Whining.  I decided to keep her with me and wait half an hour.  No change.  Took her for a quick walk around the block (yes I'm clueless, out walking in the cold and dark with a fever but I wanted to see if she could poop, which she did ..... soft but formed).

I wanted to take her to the ER but she was already terrified and she doesn't like strangers OR the vet and I have the flu ....so ..... I decided to keep her in my arms.  Around midnight I couldn't stay awake anymore.  Natalie came and took her from me and took her into her bed.  She was shaking the whole bed and panting.  I just couldn't function and didn't know what else to do.  I got up around 1:30 and got a flashlight and went to check ...... when I shined the flashlight in the room Natalie said she had FINALLY stopped panting and shaking.  She was still awake though, and lifted her head up and looked at me.  I checked again at 3.   Both Natalie and Gracie STILL awake but ok.   At 5, like clockwork, Gracie got up and demanded breakfast and inhailed it.  She didn't go out with the others, she went out after they came back in.  I gave her 10 minutes and went to check and she was on the lounger outside .... in 39 degrees.  I brought her in
and reclosed the dog door.  She wouldn't come to bed, she lay down on the dog bed in the family room by the dog door.

I lay back down and got up at 7 and checked her and she was on the ottoman in the living room.  I scooped her up and brought her back to bed with me and she stayed until I got up.

She's real tired, but she seems fine now.  Peeing and pooping and eating and drinking and hanging with the other hounds.   I really needed help last night ..... Bev/Sandy I thought about calling you both at different times but it never came to that thank G-d.  I think she must have eaten something, dunno what.  She was rooting in the teenagers backpack ..... teenager swears there was no chocolate/coffee beans/illicit substances in there.  I believe her (I hope).  Dunno what happened to my baby, what a scare.

Ideas?
