[Dailydrool] The very bad day

Had a little too much excitement yesterday. Beauford and Bugsey had their
first serious fight...over a cow hoof. Bugsey doesn't even like them that
much, but Beauford stole his. Beauford put a 1/2-3/4 inch tear in Bugsey
ear and the thing just wouldn't stop bleeding. I would get it stopped and
then he had to go outside. The ear would drag in snow and pop open and
bleed. I took him to the vet and had it cauterized, but the scab didn't
want to stay on. We tried a cone. In 25 years of having bassets, 10
different bassets, I have never needed a cone. Well, I still don't have
one. Bugsey totally freaked out! I have never seen anything like it and
neither had the vet! We tried vet wrapping his ear to the top of his head,
but when it was tight enough to keep the ear in place, he couldn't breathe
that well. When we loosened it, the ear fell out. Finally got him home and
just had him lay in my lap and I am putting the ears in a scrunchy on top
of his head when he goes out. Blood all over the house. The cow hooves are
gone. Bugsey is now in a snood.  Other than he is holding his neck funny
(out straight in front of him), he is fine.

The funny thing is when I had to break up the fight, Beauford was the one
sobbing like he was dying.  I checked him all over twice.  I couldn't find
a mark on him.  So I looked at the blood trail more closely.  It was going
back to the dog bed where Bugsey was happily chewing on a dog bed in a pool
of blood on the bed.  Both front feed were covered and so was his left
shoulder.  So, where was Browyn during all of this?!  She stole an ad
circular and was shredding it in one of the other dog beds.  We all know
you have to have more beds than bassets.

Jennifer with Beauford (who is still mad at Bugsey and his mom), Bugsey
(who is refusing to look at mom, but is so traumatized that he needs to be
next to her) and Browyn the Fairy Princess (huh, did something happen?)
