Must be something in the air. We had a big fight here the other day
between Jersey & Ginger, our two alphas. We have no idea what started
it other than we were having lunch and something got them going.
Jersey has always ruled with an iron paw but she does it with
personality, not by fighting. Well, she fought back this time! We've
been pretty relaxed with Ginger and the rules we've lived by for years
to keep her aggression under control so we're going to go back to
basics and reinstate the rules we've lived by until recently. So much
for getting complacent.

Things seem to happen in threes at our house. Jersey is on the mend
but had us more than a little scared with all the vomiting. Then
Ginger developed a UTI. Our old kitty, Minnie, who would have turned
17 in March started having seizures last week. She had never had a
seizure before but had three back to back one day last week. Our vet
didn't find anything obvious and, at her age, we weren't willing to do
anything invasive so we brought her home. Things improved for several
days until she died in her sleep yesterday morning. We had decided to
let nature take its course and that's exactly what happened. I guess
that is the best thing that we could have asked for.

We have quite a variety of toenail colors here and clipping them is
always a crisis. Ginger gets muzzled and we try to slam dunk her as
quickly as we can. I basically lay on top of her while the DH has a
death grip on each foot as he clips. She's a nightmare. Suzy cries
like she being killed from before we start till after we're done.
Shadow is stoic and just tolerates it. We used to have to muzzle
Jersey but, the other day, I barely had to hold her. She rumbled and
grumbled the whole time but didn't fight us at all. We were a little
worried that she was getting sick again but she's fine. Things change
by the day around here.

We had a fair amount of snow for our area here in NC. We're originally
from snow country, central NY so it's kind of entertaining the way
people get so upset about a little snow here in NC and how it the
local stations ran the news all day long for the past couple of days
about it. The Houndettes aren't interested in the snow at all! They
used to play in it a little a couple of years ago but this time they
don't want anything to do with it. Suzy spent a little time out in it
this afternoon but she was the only one. I was kind of disappointed
that they didn't play at all.

So glad to hear that Debbie is doing ok and Marlene is on the mend.

The Houndettes send get well and heart healing drool to all in need.
