Kacy:

When I read your Drool story of Cowboy and the mouse, it reminded me of
the day when our Belvedere nosed under our sideboard and came up with a
treasure--a dead mouse. I told him to drop it, and for once he obeyed,
but to keep me from getting it, he swallowed it.

I immediately got out the peroxide, and up the nasty thing came. The
only hard part, for me, was seeing the nasty results. Bel's tummy wasn't
quite so happy, but that action probably saved his life.

A poisoned critter can be deadly for dogs, so they need to get them out
of their systems right away. I'm not sure peroxide would always be OK,
but a poison control center could tell you what to use.

From then on, I preferred the possibility of the odd mouse to the
dangers of poison. I've never seen another mouse in our house, and as
long as they keep it that way, I'm going along with it.
