[Dailydrool] Smoke Alarm beep

Like Morse, our Dora reacts to the low battery beep like she does to thunderstorms. One clear sunny day she started shaking like a storm was coming. We were about ready to take her to the vet when DH went to the basement for something and found the smoke detector there beeping; we couldn't hear it. We had a really bad basset day in August. Our air conditioned broke and the hounds could not figure out why it was so hot and then 4 of the smoke detector started beeping. DH replaced batteries several times but they wouldn't stop; the bassets threatened to rehome themselves if we didn't get our act together. We took them down and found they have an expiration date, who knew?  The new ones fixed it. I Googled it and sure enough the new detectors expire in about 4 years.
