[Dailydrool] Vernon Q Basset reports an emergency

Vernon Q Basset has asked me to report a grave emergency to all Droolers.
A bleke dog has come to the home, and is in the home now. The people say he
is going to stay for a while.

(We're fostering a dog for our neighbour -- there was a biting incident
with a child, and the condo complex decreed that the dog had to go or be
euthanized.)

This incursion happened yesterday. We all went to the park together, where
Vernon Q and Paddi B met the bleke dog. Paddi B responded in her usual
"hale dog well met" fashion -- she likes all dogs unless they actively
attack her. (Or in the case of one giant grand pyrenees puppy, sit on
her.)

Vernon Q Basset, though, wants all droolers to know that He is no pushover.
He grred furiously, lunged, snapped and generally did his best impression
of a hound from h-e-double-toothpicks.

Things calmed down, and we walked towards home. There were a couple of
incidents of grring and snapping at home, particularly when the bleke dog
entered the living room. By the end of about an hour, things were calm
again.

Vern has barked at Simba a bit this morning, but at the moment all is calm.
Simba is curled up on his bed near my feet, and Vern is likewise curled up
just beyond my desk on his bed. I think we might have gotten lucky!

Simba is a Formosan Mountain Dog, who came originally from Taiwan. He is
definitely Not A Basset, and so far does not seem to be a wannabe! But he
will be a nice enough houseguest while we find him a new home.
