I just wanted to tell those Droolers who are not on Facebook
how successful our Debbie's Dawgs senior pawtner project
has been - we had 156 people helping 90 senior hounds in
rescue! If you've not been to our Facebook page, Debbie's
Dawgs, be sure and check it out if you can. Get a friend or
one of your kids to show it to you if you're not on FB. The
foster moms and dads have been posting pictures of the senior
hound in their care with his or her new bed, sporting a new collar
or with his or her new toys and treats. It is so amazing and
heartwarming to see these dogs with their packages - for some
of them, it is the first time they've ever had anything of their very
own. And the ones that get adopted take their things with them
to their new home.
We've had several of our senior pawtners get adopted and
everyone is so excited for them - even Neil. a blind basset
in CA, got a new home in the last couple of days! We did
have some sadness as we lost a couple of hounds but we've
had a lot of happy endings and this is what makes it all worthwhile.
It's been a very contagious thing - someone wanders on to our page
and see what we're doing and then they want to help a hound . . .
Our next senior pawtner will probably not be until next year
but we may be doing a smaller scale project which will be
announced here on the Drool so watch for our posts!
