[Dailydrool] A Kitten?

Well we at Western Missouri Basset Rescue have had an interesting weekend. A
man called us and said he had a kitten stuck in his window well it was
several feet deep and he could not reach the kitten. We told him we were a
basset rescue but he said I have called animal control and they do not work
on the weekend and he was afraid the kitten is starving. So we get his
address and get halfway there and he calls and says the kitten is gone he
does not hear it crying any more but we head on over to the house but no one
was home and we did not want to look like burglars so we left.
 The next morning we get a call the kitten is back so we head over there
again and when the man comes to the door he shows us the kitten he did get
him out of the window well. This poor baby eyes barely open ears still
closed must be only nine or ten days old. The man said he has been hunting
for the momma but he never saw an adult cat anywhere. So here we are taking
a nine day old kitten to a house full of Bassets. We call the vet and ask to
get him checked out so we end up swinging by the vet and he seems pretty
healthy but will need weaned and they eat every two hours and stimulated to
potty and when he gets older like 12 weeks or 16 weeks we can neuter him. I
had cats several years ago but have not had a cat in years not sure how the
bassets will act. Stinky says "lemme at em I will take care of that cat for
mom". But do not worry stinky will not get near the kitten. We found a
retired registered nurse friend who has offered to wean him if we promise to
find him a good home as soon as he is weaned. Well I do not know what we are
going to do but my vow is not to let and unsprayed or unneurtered pet leave
our home so we are working on how we are going to keep the kitten safe from
the wolverine rabbit killing Basssets  while he grows big enough to be
neutered. Any suggestions?
