I could certainly see “Brown Trout” as a registered name for a show litter in which the theme was fish. A mostly red dog could be “Atlantic Salmon.” A mostly white dog who’s a bit flaky could be “Boston Scrod.” And “Mahi Mahi” would indeed be a memorable show-dog name. ;-)
