[Dailydrool] dentals

While living in San Diego, I paid upward of $1200 for complete dental with
numerous extractions. Our vet now, in the bay area, is super reasonable and
more of an old school "in it for the dogs" type of vet. He charges a flat
$250, which includes any extractions. If you want the routine blood work
done in advance, that is a separate charge, but obviously still reasonable.

I feel it truly varies by practice, age and modernization of equipment,
etc. We are in the SF Bay Area - definitely not a cheap area to live - and
so I feel lucky to have found such a reasonable vet. His office is outdated
though and pretty plain. I am okay with that though. I don't need a fancy
waiting room or fresh coffee upon arrival. Many of my friends have begun
seeing him as well after hearing about his practice and prices. In addition
to being affordable, he is extremely personable, knowledgeable and honest
about our options as well as what he would do "if this was my dog".

We are moving again in the next month. I will be sad to leave Dr. Johnson's
practice. Hopefully we will find another great vet in our new hometown.
