We don't post often but thought we would chime in on this one.  2006 MBR Waddle Queen Sadie Sue was my first foray into the world of bassets.  She came to me as a puppy from my neice Jessie who was young at the time.  She had asked me one day if I would like one of her parent's basset puppies.  She only had one left and she told me this one was the runt of the litter.  When I first got her I noticed she had a patch of hair on the right rear of her neck in the shape of an "S".  Knowing on of the bassets at my neice's house was named Sadie Sue, I asked my neice if it would be ok if I named her that.  She thought it was a great idea and told me that her Sadie Sue was my Sadie Sue's mother.  After two years and before I had her spayed I let her out in the backyard one night knowing we had a fenced yard.  Unknowingly a neighborhood dog had dug under the fence and I heard a large yelp.  Seeing him atop her I quickly chased him away but alas too late.  Sadie Sue ended up having nine puppies in that litter.  I went with mostly an "S" litter except for a couple exceptions.  Stripe looked like a full breed basset body style, she was a red basset with a big white stripe down the middle of her back.  The rest of the girls were a petite basset style body with short ears.  Samantha (Sammie Taz) was light colored Cream with White markings.  Theresa, Suzie, and Sherry were Black with White markings.  The boys all had their father's body style "Nova Scotia Duck Tolling Retriever".  Spike, a red and white who was the spitting image of his father. Tippy a Black dog with White tips on his paws was just the lovingest love magnet you could ever ask for. Scruffy (Mr. Scruffaluffacus), who had a scruffy patch of hair on his rear end.  I just looked at him and said you sure are a scruffy butt character.  And Stinger, named after a certain pro wrestler of that era.  Daisey Mae, Mollie Mae and Barney all came with their names and we kept them.  All except Mollie Mae and Barney have left for the bridge and left paw prints forever on my heart.
