The other day I was walking Millie, and we came across a really stupid
squirrel. As we approached, it just sat there and looked at us. As we got
closer, it took off and ran right in front of us and Millie missed getting it
by about 2 inches. Unlike Ben, she chases the critters, but as she is on
a leash, she cannot not bet them, but she almost got this one.

This weekend Millie and I went to a Halloween party at a Basset Hound Club
at a breeder's home. Between the breeder's dogs and other attendees' dogs,
there were probably over 20 hounds in the little house along with about
the same number of people. She was nervous, but did well with all the dogs,
until the breeder let out of the cages several younger hounds. As Millie
was the only one near them, they massed around her to greet her. That she
did not like to well and let them know it with growls. I was about to
admonish her, when the breeder came over told me not to as she was just letting
them know she did not appreciate their actions. She did it a second time
and they backed off. It was a learning experience for her as well as the
youngsters. The rest of the afternoon then went fine. She did not do a lot
of mixing and preferred to stay with me, but she needs the socialization
experiences, too.
