[Dailydrool] Itchy Bumpy-headed Basset

I'm seeking the corporate wisdom again. Our Bobo has recently become extremely itchy. He scratches, nibbles, and shakes his head most of the time. He also has small bumps about the size of a pin head on the top of his skull. In addition to this, he is shedding copious amounts of his undercoat. We had some lab work done recently and there was nothing alarming, so he is being dosed with Benadryl. He can't tolerate Prednisone. Has anyone experienced a similar set of symptoms? We are suspecting an allergy, but have no idea why a random allergy would appear that we've never noticed before. Anyway, any insights will be most appreciated!
