I know you have a book and seem to have found a recipe to help Bugsey. Have you ever heard of Monica Segal? She has a website www.monicalsegal.com. She formulates diets for dogs and has helped many people. I had her formulate a diet before and it worked well. Might be worth a try. 
I've read that you shouldn't feed carbohydrates if there's a yeast problem. Yeast feeds on carbohydrates. 
Hope both you and Bugsey find relief soon.
