we have gone through a big scare here this week, my Annie started
throwing up a large amount of blood early Sunday morning 3:00 AM, I thought maybe
it was from her retching, she went back to bed after I gave her a tums
and she actually wanted breakfast at 7:30 AM , so I fed her, sometime around
11:45 AM she threw up again , only this time is was dark brown and looked
like coffee grounds, I decided to take her into the emergency vet at noon,
and we sat, and sat, and sat some more, Annie was panting, pacing and I
was a nervous wreck, felt like I was going to have an aneursym, and I was
getting more upset by the minute, the vet finally came in and said Annie has
a fever 102.7 and said they were going to do a series of X-Rays, that took
another hour, vet came back in and said, nothing showed up on the x_rays
and Annie was NOT bloating, and they thought maybe she "might " " or could
possibly " have an ulcer that is how they were going to treat her, put her
on Carafate and Cerenia for vomiting, no more vomiting the rest of the day
and Monday we went back to our regular vet who suggest a scope procedure,
we made an appointment with Dr. Jen at Sylvania vet for Thursday, in The
meantime, all of Annie blood work came back normal, even her clotting time I
was also in touch with Sandy Gaston through this whole process and just
let me say, Sandy is a life saver, not only for my Annie but also for me,
that is what Sandy does, she not only cares about your Basset, but she also
cares about ( you ) she kept me calm and walked me through everything, Dr.
Jen called me on Wednesday and talked to me for over a half an hour and
with all of Annies, test, X_Rays and Blood work and what I told her Sandy
had said, Dr. Jen didn't think Annie needed to be scoped, we will continue
the stomach coating meds for two more weeks, but Annie is doing good,
eating normal, and pooping normal, Once again, a million times isn't enough,
Thank You Sandy !
My pupster 15 months now ( Hannah ) is literally a slob, this dog, drools
more and slimes more things in my house than you can imagine, and she does
everything but swim in her drinking bowl , it is more like a mouth wash to
her, and she leaves floaters and dirt and sinkers in her bowl and my
refined lady Annie refuses to drink after her, Annie goes over to the bowl looks
at it, looks at me or Bill and will whine until we change the water. I am
in the process of training wild child Hannah to let Annie drink ( first )
after meals I make Hannah sit and wait until Annie is done drinking, if
looks could kill, I would drop dead ! Hannah gives me that stupid doo dah
basset look, " like really " Annie takes LONGGGGGG drinks and then se will
stop, Hannah goes in for the swim and Annie starts drinking again, I know she
is doing this on purpose , Annie will then walk past Hannah as if to say "
Ok stupid, it's your turn
I am ready for fall weather, so very hot this summer
Marlene, Annie and wild child Hannah
