ah yes; we recognize that problem.  Our beloved late Harley was a half dog half the way guy. after he left for the bridge, I had to pry up the metal threshold at the front door and discard it, and then dig down into the wood about an inch deep and an inch wide and then fill in the ditch with new wood and with plastic wood to eliminate saturated portions and restore the area to an odorless entry. Sigh.  But I still mis him terribly.
