When I ask the Boys
WHAT ARE YOU DOING?
There is a chorus of
"nothing...no nothing...we're not...really nothing."
When I ask Merta Lou the same question I get
"Why do you ask?" or
"eating this bead you dropped on the floor is that a problem?"
When I tell the Boys
GET IN YOUR CRATES
They do.
When I say that to Merta Lou she raises her nose an inch or two and stares
pointedly at my empty hands: no treat, no dog.
When I say
EVERYONE OUTSIDE
The Boys run to the door.
Merta Lou gets up, stares at the door and says
"Excuse me, but if I go out when I come in you will put me in my crate. No
thanks."
And when I say
WHO WANTS A CUDDLE
she's the first one there.
