BHCA BASSET HEALTH SURVEY FAQ'S

Dear Basset Lovers,

The response to the Basset Health Survey on Facebook has been great! Thank
You! Please help us keep it going by sharing it with your Basset friends.
And, if you have already done the survey, please show your support by liking
this post.

If you have not done the survey, you can access it HERE

Feedback from people who have completed the survey has inspired some tips
for doing it:

. The survey asks for information on the Basset Hounds you have owned since
January 2000. This includes those who have died, but who were alive at any
time between January 2000 and now.

. The survey accommodates up to 10 individual dogs. People who have had more
than 10 Basset Hounds since January 2000 have the option of completing a
supplemental survey.

. The survey asks whether each dog has been diagnosed with any of 19
categories of medical conditions (e.g. cancer, gastrointestinal, eye, etc) .
For the first dog you report on, the specific ailments are visible on each
condition page. For dogs 2 - 10, you only see the list of specific ailments
if you click "Yes" on the category page. A list of the categories and
specific ailments in the survey is available here:
http://tinyurl.com/BHCAHealthConditionsDefined . It can be printed or opened
in a separate browser window for reference during the survey. You can also
use it as a worksheet before you sit down to enter your responses on-line.

. Give yourself enough time to do the survey in one sitting. If you are
going to consult veterinary records, assemble them ahead of time. Figure on
5-10 minutes per dog. Unfortunately, you cannot get back to your place in
the survey if you close your browser window and either turn off your
computer or leave it for a significant amount of time.

. You can only navigate through the survey using the "previous" and "next"
buttons at the bottom of each page. If you forget and hit the browser's back
arrow, you will be bumped out of the survey. There is some good news,
however. If you exit the survey and IMMEDIATELY go back in using the same
computer and browser, there is a good chance that will put you back into
your survey and you can then click forward to where you were before.
