There are so many factors that go into determining the best food for
seniors. Beauford just turned 7 and the vet said with all of his allergies,
he just wanted a food Beauford was tolerating well and wasn't allergic to
first and for most. I have had several seniors. If they have marginal
kidneys, you need a lower protein food. If they have ever had trouble with
pancreatitis, they need a low fat food. If they are losing muscle and the
kidneys are fine, you need a higher protein and fat food if they can
tolerate the fat. Because my dogs have all had allergies and skin issues,
and all organs have been fine, and they were losing weight, I actually
have gone more towards a puppy food. Then you reach a point where you will
cook food and try anything to get them to eat. Sorry for such a vague
answer, if you have more specific questions feel free to email me.
